Clara is a character from Living Legends: Uninvited Guests and the main game's antagonist. She is based on Beauty's sister from Beauty and the Beast.
Story[]
When Clara was a child, her mother, while pregnant with Beatrice, grew gravely ill. Clara's father, Radford went to Abigail the Wish Granter and asked her to save his wife and unborn child. The Witch gave him a magic rose with the power to save one life with the sacrifice of another. Radford's wife chose to sacrifice herself for Beatrice.
Clara was greatly saddened by her mother's passing and a part of her resented Beatrice. As Beatrice grew, she became more and more like her mother in appearance. Her kind nature won the hearts of those who met her. Clara felt Beatrice's resemblance to their mother garnered more attention from Radford. Clara's jealousy grew. Abigail saw Clara's anger and envy, so she used it for her own purposes. Abigail took Clara's good memories and sealed them within a dream catcher, leaving Clara with only her darkest moments. Abigail manipulated Clara to hate Beatrice and to blame her for their mother's death.
Clara felt she could only be happy once Beatrice was gone. She plotted many murder attempts but Beatrice somehow always escaped unharmed. Clara even once lured a pack of wolves into Beatrice's path but Leo rescued Beatrice and the two soon fell in love.
Another attempt failed and her sister betrothed to royalty was surely too much for Cara. She went to Abigail and received a magic potion. If Beatrice drank the potion she would turn into a hideous beast but if the spell was broken Clara would pay the price.
At the wedding, Clara poured the potion into Beatrice's chalice but Leo drank it instead and transformed into a beast. Unaware of the Beast's true nature, Radford fatally wounded Leo. Beatrice went to retrieve the magic rose but was kidnapped and imprisoned by Clara. Out of pure spite, Clara kept Beatrice alive but locked her up just a few feet from the magic rose and forced her to wait for her husband's death.
Clara scratched her own face to make Leo appear as beastly as his cursed form and played the grieving sister for the whole town. With false claims about the Beast and her siblings' deaths, she riled the town into a rage and sent them off to capture and kill the Beast. Clara's plan was foiled when Leo's cousin used Radford's magic mirror and Clara's soul stone to reveal the truth. The town quickly turned against Clara. Bursting with rage, Clara took a knife and attacked Leo's cousin but was defeated and dragged away by her own father. She was imprisoned for her crimes.
Two months later, Clara payed the toll of her broken curse. She transformed into a beast herself. Even worse still, Abigail's voice filled her head, controlling her. With a beast's strength, Clara broke free. She attacked the town and kidnapped Beatrice. Abigail had her kidnap other people as well and Clara brought them all to the deepest part of the bog. Beatrice's kidnapping also lured in the final piece in Abigail's plan, Leo. Abigail now had everything for her to enact her revenge. However, Leo managed to free Clara from the witch's control by finding the enchanted dream catcher and releasing Clara's happy memories.
With her memories restored and the truth revealed, Clara's hatred disappeared, replaced with a determination to stop Abigail and save her sister. She helped Leo find the artifacts containing Abigail's weaknesses and enchanted the dream catcher, turning Abigail's own magic against her and defeating the witch, once and for all. With her death, the townspeople were set free and Clara regained her human form, her scars seemingly vanishing along with her old, cruel self. As the spirit of their mother watched from above, the two sisters embraced.
